Objective
This objective of this web site is to provide a framework. It shows a way
to look at changes in work and technology, the people who carry out that work
and those people who manage the process and the tools they will be using. The
information will be of use to:
Human Resource professionals.
Line managers.
Students.
The general reader.
The reason for providing this framework is to help informed debate,
particularly among Human Resource professionals, on the future of work and
the technologies around it. How work will change, how it will be carried out
and how workers will be organised. It also focuses on how the new
technologies will change the way that Human resource management will change
as the nature of work and society transforms in to alternative paths.
A mixture of social, economic and technological changes will transform the
concept of work over the next few years. These upheavals will be similar to
those that happened at the time of the Industrial revolution. No can know
exactly what will happen. It is possible to develop alternative futures. From
these scenarios alternative plans can be drawn up. The development of
alternative futures and plans are important tools for both individuals and
organisations. Without them individuals and companies stumble blindly in to
the future. Rather they should be mapping the future to take advantage of the
many probable opportunities and lessen the inevitable evils that will arise.
This web site will assist in the drawing up of these maps.

curiosity.
The end of each chapter has a list of reading material and useful
web sites. The appendix contains details of the author and how to join in
this and other discussions.
